Some of these people look at their computer screen as if it were blank, and even if its not – it may as well be for all the good it’s going to do! So where do you start?
In this little article, I will give you some hints on where to start with your new home business!

The first thing you should do is sit down and think about what you already know about and like to do. Everybody, no matter how boring they seem, has interests and expertise in some area. Most interests, can be easily monetized, unless your hobby is underwater pole vaulting, in which case you probably won’t find much of a demand. But if you’re a typical average Joe or Jolene, there’s a good chance that one of your interests can be turned into a part time or even full time income, with a home business.

The next step is to put these interests down on paper and go search the Internet to see if you can find any related info on them. For example, let’s say that your interest is fishing. Maybe you’re even a very good fisherman. Maybe you even have a new or improved way of pulling fish from the water! You might even think your way is quite unique and may be something that you could teach to others. So, what you do is go online and see if there are already fisherman sites or information courses being sold. If there are, (and obscure as it sounds – I know there is plenty of ‘fisherman’ info on the net) then there is certainly a market for this niche.

Ok…the third thing to do is to see how much competition you’re going to have if you go ahead with this new home business. Now, I’m definately not suggesting that if there is a lot of competition that you can the idea, but at go in with your eyes wide open and know what you’re getting yourself into before you get into it! An easy way to find out how much competition you have is to go back to google and see how many other web sites there are for fisherman type things. If there are millions, you’ve got your work cut out for you. If there are thousands, it should be relatively easy!

The next thing to do in working out whether your idea for a home business is a good one, is to actually start working out how you’re going to monetize this specialized area or niche. Are you going to write an ebook on fishing, maybe the best fishing spots? Maybe you’ll put together a course on DVD with actual videos. I dont know much about fishing, but maybe how to scale, clean or fillet? maybe how to choose the best sinkers? Video courses are huge today and people will pay good dollars for them if they are well done. My point is, you need to work out just how you’re going to present your product to the market, assuming there is one, and get them to buy.

After all, a home business wont make any money without some kind of sales!
