Burn Out Be Gone!

Burn Out! It sucks, but it happens to all of us at some time.
I admit, burn out doesn’t happen to me that often, but I am finding just lately, that I have bitten off a bit more than I can chew!

So what do you do when you find yourself suffering from burn out? or that you’re stressed out and you feel like you just can’t do it anymore?

Well, these handy hints have helped me through the bad times, in particular the bad time Im facing right now! Read on to find some ways to deal with burn out.

Well, I think you have to get away from your work. Its usually work that is the instigator in burn out! Heaps of people try to work through it, but that doesn’t work for me – it just makes the problem worse. When my mind wants to go on strike, I have no choice but to give it a rest.

I used to be an entertainer! One thing I really enjoy is singing. I don’t know what your interests are, but there’s got to be something you do for relaxation. So – Just do it! Get away from your work and pretend like work doesn’t exist for a while! (lucky I have my own decked out music room!)

Secondly, after you have had a bit of a relax and you start stressing because you should get back to work, just sit down and write up a list. Make it really basic and simple to start. If you are suffering burn out because you’ve been too hard at work, make a list that will be easy to achieve.

I might make my list so easy that it only has 2 or 3 things on it, and I make sure I don’t do anything else. This is good for two reasons. The first good thing is that at least I’ve accomplished something during my day and the second is that I dont put any pressure on myself, because although 2-3 things is about 1/20 of what I would normally do, doing something is definately better than nothing!

Soon, as you start getting back into the swing of things, you can increase your regular work load back to a sensible amount to avoid future burn out! If you find that doing more increases your level of stress and possible future burnout, then don’t go there! Don’t go beyond your limit again.

You need to learn to recognize your trigger switch! Learn to cut yourself off. This can be so terribly hard for me, but sometimes I just have to stop! It can be extra hard when you’re first building your new business, or your business is already successful and you want to keep it going that way – but getting to where you are is how you got to feeling how you do – burnt out!

Don’t get me wrong, it’s a tough act to perform! But with time and experience, you’ll get good at it.
I hope I get better at it too!

You see, Im a bit of a workaholic! and….I’ve been very stressed out lately, feeling major personal burn out while I deal with some big issues.
I was having a really hard time relaxing – so I started a new project!
I have found this to be a great idea and instead of feeling burn out, I now feel re-invigorated!
My major stress lately promoted me to develop another website!
You can check it out by clicking Personal Development|Self Help
So……..I am dealing with my burn out by working on a self help and personal development site!
Thats pretty logical – dont you think?

Whatever you do – do something about how you feel, or it will only get worse!
I hope these tips on dealing with burn out help you too!

    Hi Kym

This is very true, especially when one is just starting out,
the need to work all the time and not leave time for relaxation
just happens. In order to perform best one needs to have some
    balance in life.

Whenever I start to notice myself feeling burnt out I tend to initially look back to my original motivation for whatever I am trying to achieve. To me burn out is just a sign that I’m not motivated enough to put forth the time, money and/or energy to accomplish that goal. I find that having a break away from anything related to projects or tasks related to that goal helps as I try to revisit what it is I’m trying to do. I then evaluate my progress thus far, compared to where I would like to be and decide if the current or foreseen payoff of this goal is worth the amount of effort needed. Sometimes completely letting go of a goal that becomes to frustrating either for a short while or all together can be a great help. Otherwise, when I revisit my original motivation for the goal and get more connected with that it can also help fuel a fire underneath you and almost give you a “second wind” of sorts to keep going.

Yet another great post Kym…..I don’t know how you do it.

I have been suffering from what can only be termed as burn out myself recently and have take a few days off work (my day job) no not sick, don’t do that, but holiday. It has so far been quite theraputic, working on something I enjoy doing..my home business … as apposed to being under constant pressure at work. If you do suffer burn out and you can take a day or two out, do it. It works.

By the way Kym, can’t you put an audio blog up so we can all hear you singing? ….now there’s a burn out buster.

    Hi Kym,
This is a great post. I always say to my affiliates that if they are not in the mood of doing but still blame themselves for not doing to do just one thing. It doesn’t have to be big, but it has to be significant.

It makes you feel better and then you can go and relax.
